На тлі заяви Еквадору про передачу застарілої російської зброї США, Россільгоспнагляд вирішив з п'ятого лютого призупинити поставки в країну бананів з п'яти підприємств Еквадору через нібито виявлення в їхній продукції небезпечного карантинного шкідника.

На частку країни припадає 96 відсотків всього імпорту бананів у рф.

При цьому росія є одним із основних покупців цього фрукту, займаючи 20 відсотків експорту Еквадору за відповідною статтею.

На тлі санкцій Заходу, запроваджених у 2022 році, з постачанням бананів виникли логістичні проблеми. У результаті 2023 року цей вид продукції став однією з лідерів зростання роздрібних цін у росії.
