Колишній представник України у мінській контактній групі Роман Безсмертний оголосив про свій намір балотуватися в президенти.

Про це він заявив на зустрічі з журналістами в Києві, передає "ВВС Україна".

"Майбутнім для себе я вважаю балотування у президенти. Я дійсно буду балотуватися", – сказав Безсмертний.

Політик також додав, що "прийде час", і він оформить відповідні документи.

Роман Безсмертний був народним депутатом 4 скликань, у 1994 – 2007 роках, представником президента Леоніда Кучми в парламенті, віце-прем'єр-міністром з питань адміністративно-територіальної реформи, заступником голови Секретаріату президента Віктора Ющенка, послом України в Білорусі та представником України в політичній підгрупі на переговорах у "Мінському форматі".

У квітні 2016 року Безсмертний вирішив припинити роботу в ТКГ. Чергові президентські вибори в Україні мають відбутися навесні 2019 року.
