Після пандемії Covid спостерігається зростання популярності плейлистів зі звуками природи — мільйони людей шукають у них спокою, намагаючись уповільнити ритм життя та покращити психічне здоров’я. Звуки природи все частіше розглядають як інструмент для зниження стресу та емоційного відновлення, а відповідний контент активно поширюється у соцмережах.

На цьому тлі журнал Unquiet, який з 2020 року надихає на унікальні подорожі, запустив провокаційну кампанію, що змушує по-новому замислитися про стан довкілля. Разом із бразильським агентством Tech & Soul було створено серію «Uncomfortable Nature Sounds» — аудіофайлів, які спершу звучать як типові заспокійливі записи: шум води, спів птахів, шелест листя. Але вже за кілька секунд ці звуки змінюються на гучні та тривожні — лісові пожежі, урагани, штормові вітри чи звук танення льодовиків.

Ідея кампанії виникла з простого, але тривожного питання: що буде, якщо звуки, які ми звикли слухати для заспокоєння, почнуть відображати наслідки кліматичної кризи? За словами креаторів, таке навмисне створення дискомфорту має на меті спровокувати сильні емоції та усвідомлення. Кампанія попереджає: якщо не діяти вже зараз, хаос природи перестане бути виключенням і стане нормою.
