Задержанные в Беларуси участники протестов должны быть незамедлительно освобождены, заявляет министерство иностранных дел Латвии.
Во внешнеполитическом ведомстве считают, что президентские выборы в Беларуси не соответствовали стандартам Организации по безопасности и сотрудничеству в Европе, передает Цензор.НЕТ со ссылкой на Интерфакс-Украина.
Правительство и правоохранительные органы Беларуси должны уважать гражданские свободы и права жителей страны свободно выражать политические взгляды. Применение силы против мирных демонстрантов неприемлемо, подчеркнули в министерстве.
МИД выразил сожаление в связи с тем, что у международных наблюдателей не было возможности участвовать в наблюдении за процессом голосования, а работа представителей СМИ по освещению выборов была ограничена.
"Только при соблюдении демократических прав и свобод возможно позитивное развитие отношений между Европейским союзом и Беларусью. Латвия как соседнее с Белоруссией государство заинтересовано в таком развитии", - подчеркнули в МИД.
