Президент США Дональд Трамп номинировал новым послом в Германии бывшего дипломата и журналиста Ричарда Гринелла.

Об этом заявил официальный представитель Белого дома, сообщает DW.

Гринелл работал пресс-секретарем постоянного представителя США при ООН при администрации президента Джорджа Буша-младшего с 2001 по 2008 год.

В настоящее время он регулярно выступает комментатором внешнеполитических событий на телеканале Fox News.

Кандидатуру Гринелла должен утвердить Сенат США.

Кроме того, отмечается, что Гринелл можеть стать первым открытым геем, занимающим должность посла США.

Напомним, 19 июля президент Трамп предложил кандидатуру бывшего губернатора штата Юта Джона Хантсмана на пост посла в РФ.
