«Вірогідно, для когось мої слова здаються дуже сміливими. Однак однією з основних тем під час передвиборчої кампанії стала міграційний криза – в саме вона коштувала християнським демократам голосів їх давніх прихильників та перетворив на третю політичну силу в країні правопопулістів з «Альтернативи для Німеччини», - зазначив він . Експерт зауважив, що дуже велика кількість мігрантів прибули до цієї країни саме завдяки російським зусиллям в Сирії. Віталій Портников зауважив, що у даний час відновлення балансу німецької політичної системи стане найголовнішим завданням четвертого терміну Меркель.
«У разі, якщо Меркель піде зі своєї посади, залишивши Німеччину без путінської «Альтернативи» і відкривши нове дихання європейського проекту, у неї буде точно місце в нашій вдячній пам'яті, оскільки в цьому випадку ми отримаємо шанс на майбутнє», - вважає журналіст.
