Колишній мер з Індіани Піт Бутеджедж виграв кокуси Демократичної партії в Айові, які відбулися 3 лютого, з відривом 0,1%.

Про це повідомляє "Європейська правда" з посиланням на CNN.

Після опрацювання 100% результатів Піт Бутеджедж отримав 26,2% від загального числа делегатів від штату. Згідно з правилами виборів у США, на кокусах і праймеріз саме кількістю делегатів визначається, хто здобув найвищу підтримку.
 

Майже таку ж підтримку отримав сенатор від штату Вермонт Берні Сандерс (26,1%). На третьому місці – сенаторка від штату Массачусетс Елізабет Воррен (18,0%). Ексвіцепезидент США Джо Байден четвертий з 15,8%.

Якщо Бутеджедж виграє вибори, він стане першим президентом-відкритим геєм. Бутеджедж заявляє, що відсутність у нього політичного досвіду у Вашингтоні робить його ідеальним кандидатом на тлі суперників-"старих політиків".

Нагадаємо, підрахунок голосів у Айові суттєво затримався після того, як у Демократичній партії виникли технічні проблеми і результати з дільниць не могли повідомити вчасно.

Президентські вибори у США відбудуться 3 листопада.
