На посаду прес-секретаря Російської православної церкви замість протоієрея Всеволода Чапліна призначено публіциста Олександра Щипкова. Про це повідомляє "Фонтанка" з посиланням на "Російську службу новин"
В сферу відповідальності Щипкова увійдуть питання взаємодії з органами державної влади та з неурядовими організаціями.
Донедавна ці завдання входили в сферу відповідальності протоієрея Всеволода Чапліна, який протягом майже семи років керував Синодальним відділом із взаємин Церкви і суспільства, але був знятий з цієї посади рішенням Синоду 24 грудня 2015.

Олександр Володимирович Щипков (народився 3 серпня 1957, в Ленінграді) - російський соціолог релігії, політолог, фахівець в області державно-конфесійних відносин, журналіст, кандидат філософських наук; головний редактор порталу "Релігія і ЗМІ", член Ради "Громадського телебачення Росії" (ОТР), директор Московського центру соціальних досліджень, член Міжсоборної присутності РПЦ. Дійсний державний радник 3 класу. Колишній помічник Голови Ради Федерації.
