Голова зовнішньополітичного комітету Бундестагу Норберт Реттген висунув себе як кандидата на посаду лідера Християнсько-демократичного союзу канцлера Ангели Меркель (ХДС).

Про це повідомляє "Європейська правда" з посиланням на Reuters.

Минулого тижня протеже Меркель Аннегрет Крамп-Карренбауер заявила, що не має наміру висувати свою кандидатуру на пост канцлера на наступних парламентських виборах в 2021 році і що після запуску процесу вибору кандидатів на посаду канцлера від консерваторів піде з поста лідера ХДС.

Несподіваний крок Реттгена робить його четвертим претендентом на посаду лідера партії.

Реттген, який також обіймав посаду міністра охорони навколишнього середовища при Меркель з 2009 по 2012 рік, неодноразово виступав за збереження санкцій проти Росії, доки вона суттєво не перегляне свою позицію щодо України. Він також був одним з перших німецьких політиків, який засудив агресію РФ в Азові.

Реттген також закликав "не обмінювати Сирію на Україну" у переговорах з Росією та критикував колишнього президента Петра Порошенка за корупцію. Порошенко має визначитися, "хоче він бути президентом чи олігархом - країна чи гроші", казав німецький політик.

У минулому Реттген розглядався як той, хто міг би співпрацювати із "Зеленими", на цей момент другою за величиною партією в опитуваннях після консервативного блоку.

Іншими претендентами на лідерство ХДС є Фрідріх Мерц, колишній голова парламентської фракції ХДС, міністр охорони здоров'я Єнс Спан та Армін Лашет, прем'єр-міністр Північної Рейн-Вестфалії, найбільш населеної землі Німеччини.

Лідер ХДС, ймовірно, може бути кандидатом у канцлери від консервативного блоку, але Християнсько-соціальний союз (ХСС) - баварська сестринська партія ХДС - також може висунути свого кандидата.
