Видання The New York Times опублікувало інтерв’ю, де новелістка Еліс Волкер (Alice Walker) рекомендує книгу щодо теорії змови євреїв.

Як пише Нuffington Post, Еліс Волкер, яка є лауреаткою Пулітцерівської премії та активісткою феміністичного руху, в інтерв’ю на питання про книги на її приліжковій тумбі назвала книжку «Правда зробить вас вільними» Девіда Айка(David Icke).

«Книга Айка про існування на цій та інших планетах. Про здійснення мрій цікавої людини», — каже пані Волкер.

Утім книга звинувачує євреїв у змові задля глобального панування. The New York Times дорікають, що воно не надало жодного роз’яснення щодо антисемітського змісту цієї книги. Таким чином вона навпаки отримала додатковий піар.

Керівник Антидефамаційної ліги, яка бореться з антисемітизмом, Джонатан Грінблат (Jonathan Greenblatt) каже, що вкрай розчарований NYT: «Огляд, де Еліс Волкер ділиться своїми книгами, надає беззастережну підтримку праці горезвісного британського антисеміта Дувіда Айка. У його книзі «Правда зробить вас вільними» іудаїзм називають «неймовірно расистською» релігією, що проповідує «расову перевагу». У ній також ідеться про те, що «іудейська кліка» створила Першу і Другу світову війну, як і російську революцію. Автор, ймовірно, надихався Протоколом сіонських старійшин. Він навіть піддає сумніву Голокост і Нюрнберзький процес. Він має довгу історію нападів на євреїв, а читачі NYT мають бути про це попереджені перед тим, як радити його книги».

Однак речник The New York Times каже, що в рубриці «Книги» видання зображає портрет публічної особи через призму її читацьких уподобань: «Це не список рекомендацій від редакції. Відповіді діяча є відображенням його персонального смаку, думок та суджень. Як і в будь-якому інтерв’ю відповіді особи не можуть вважатися схваленими редакцією».

Він також додав, що додавати редакторський контекст у колонки не є звичною практикою NYT. «Багато людей рекомендують у колонці книги, які редактори NYT не люблять чи навіть ненавидять», — каже прес-секретар медіа.

Нагадаємо, раніше «Детектор медіа» писав, що Суспільне радіо Ізраїлю вибачилося за музику Ріхарда Вагнера в ефірі. Композитор відомий своїми антисемітськими поглядами.
