Американська компанія Netflix представила інструкцію з самостійної збірки ток, які можуть поставити фільм на паузу, якщо глядач заснув.

Пристрій являє собою в'язану шкарпетка, до манжета якої прикріплена м'яка вставка. Усередині вставки розташована плата Arduino Pro Trinket, батарея і чутливий акселерометр.

За допомогою акселерометра керуючий алгоритм реєструє зміни в руховій активності (така методика моніторингу сну називається актіграф) і може досить точно визначити, коли людина заснула.

Індикаторний світлодіод загоряється, коли пристрій вважає, що людина заснув, а за допомогою інфрачервоних світлодіодів носок виконує роль пульта дистанційного керування і може поставити фільм на паузу.

Два інфрачервоних світлодіода використовуються, щоб створити "ширококутний пульт" - при такій конструкції пристрій спрацює, навіть якщо людина заснула в позі, при якій носок повернутий в бік від телевізора.

Як відзначають розробники, є рішення і для тих, хто любить дивитися телевізор, укрившись ковдрою. У цьому випадку автори проекту пропонують використовувати ретранслятор, на який необхідно встановити інфрачервоні світлодіоди. При такій схемі в самому шкарпетці замість цих діодів потрібно встановити невеликий радіопередавач.
