В частности, претензии возникли к номерным знакам машин в рекламе — SO LL 3849 и MU SS 420. Критики считают, что число 84, содержащееся в номере первого автомобиля, использовано не случайно: 84 соответствует буквами H и D в немецком алфавите, являющимся аббревиатурой фразы Heil Deutschland («Слава Германии»). Кроме того, 84 секунды длится и сам ролик.
Проанализировавшая рекламу директор гамбургского агентства гражданского образования Сабина Бамбергер-Штемман обнаружила фашистские знаки и во втором номерном знаке. Она полагает, что SS (такая комбинация букв официально запрещена на номерах автомобилей в Германии) — отсылка к военизированным отрядам немецких национал-социалистов, а 420 — замаскированная дата рождения Адольфа Гитлера, родившегося 20 апреля.
Общественница убеждена, что компания намеренно включила эти символы в ролик. В EDEKA это отрицают. По словам представителя компании, сочетание букв MU SS номере автомобиля должно было отослать зрителей не к нацизму, а к материнским обязанностям и к одноименной песне M?ssen («Надо»), которая звучит в ролике.
Предновогодний ролик за короткое время стал вирусным. За неделю он набрал на YouTube почти 7,5 миллионов просмотров.
