Представницю від Демократичної партії США Александрію Окасіо-Кортес обрали членом Палати представників на другий термін від Нью-Йорка.

Про це вона написала в Facebook.

Окасіо-Кортес перемогла республіканця Джона Каммінгса, вчителя й колишнього поліцейського.

Демократка стала однією з найвідоміших в Конгресі за час свого першого терміну.

“Служити Нью-Йорку і боротися за сім’ї робітничих класів в Конгресі – найбільша честь, привілей і відповідальність в моєму житті. Спасибі The Bronx Bronx Queens за переобрання мене в Палату представників, незважаючи на мільйони, витрачені проти нас”, – написала політик.

Вона виступає за різні ініціативи, пов’язані із зеленою енергетикою, відмовою від автомобільного палива, модернізацією важкої промисловості і так далі.

При цьому, під час виборчої кампанії провідні телеканали з більш консервативними поглядами часто “демонізували” конгресвумен, приписуючи їй соціалістичні погляди.
