 Брошури партійної політичної кампанії оформляють так, ніби вони є легальними місцевими медіа. Такі газети поширюють обидві головні політичні партії Британії.Про це повідомляє сайт Світової асоціації видавців новин.

Виконавчий директор британського Товариства редакторів Доун Алфорд закликав консерваторів і лейбористів відмовитися від використання «таблоїдного формату газет, які завдають шкоди демократії».

Водночас у країні зменшується кількість справжніх місцевих і регіональних газет. Причина – скорочення доходів від реклами. Деякі громади залишились зовсім без   місцевих медіа.

 Керівництво лейбористів відреагувало на заклики Товариства редакторів і наказало місцевим активістам позначати на перших сторінках місцевих таблоїдів про походження видання.
