Действующий президент Сирии Башар Асад после подсчета голосов на выборах президента страны набрал набирая 88,07% голосов избирателей. Таким образом, по данным Центральной избирательной комиссии страны, Асад побеждает на выборах и остается президентом еще на один срок, пишет Новый регион.

Как сообщат агентство Reuters, по словам спикера парламента Мохаммада аль-Лахама, в среду, 4 июня, явка на прошедших во вторник президентских выборах составила 73,4%. В голосовании на выборах приняли участие 11,6 млн человек из более чем 15 млн граждан страны, имеющих право голоса.

Стоит отметить, что международное сообщество относится неоднозначно к президентским выборам в стране, находящейся в состоянии гражданской войны. Генеральный секретарь ООН Пан Ги Мун считает, что «выборы не соответствуют букве и духу женевского коммюнике», принятого на конференции «Женева-1» 30 июня 2012 года «Группой действий» по Сирии (вошли главы МИД пяти стран - постоянных членов СБ ООН). Тогда был принят итоговый документ, в котором выражалось согласие о необходимости формирования переходного правительства в Дамаске, которое обеспечивает проведение выборов.
