Республіканська виборча комісія Естонії у неділю, 2 жовтня, зареєструвала єдиною кандидаткою на виборах президента країни 46-річну Керсті Кальюлайд, яка представляє країну в Європейській рахунковій палаті. Главу держави в Естонії обирають у парламенті, і він виконує переважно представницькі функції, пише DW.com.

Голосування відбудеться 3 жовтня, повідомляє агенція dpa. Для перемоги на виборах Кальюлайд треба набрати дві третини голосів депутатів естонського парламенту (Рійгікогу) - тобто 68-ми членів параменту зі 101. Керсті Кальюлайд є компромісним кандидатом, чию кандидатуру висунули 90 депутатів Рійгікогу, тож спостерігачі дуже високо оцінюють її шанси на обрання.

Нагадаємо, що 24 вересня в Естонії вже відбувалися вибори глави держави, проте вони завершилися безрезультатно. Жоден з п'яти кандидатів, які брали участь у виборах, не отримав необхідної кількості голосів. Другий (і останній) президентський термін Тоомаса Хендріка Ільвеса добігає кінця 9 жовтня.
