Палата представників Національних зборів Білорусі 8 травня призначила президентські вибори в країні на 9 серпня 2020 року.

Повідомляє "Радіо Свобода"

З пропозицією відповідної дати, щоб вибори відбулися не пізніше, ніж за два місяці до закінчення нинішнього терміну Олександра Лукашенка виступила голова Центральної виборчої комісії Лідія Ярмошина. Більшість депутатів підтримали дату 9 серпня.

Раніше керівнитцво ЦВК відхилило пропозиції правозахисників щодо дистанційного проведення президентських виборів через епідемію COVID-19, заявивши, що "немає часу на вжиття цих заходів".

Сам Лукашенко 4 травня заявив, що президентські вибори відбудуться "своєчасно, відповідно до конституції, до 30 серпня". Він також повторив свої попередні заяви, що балотуватиметься на новий термін.

Крім того, президент Білорусі заявив, що хотів би показати мінський парад Перемоги на 9 травня по російському телебаченню.
