У Куп’янську на Харківщині військові встановили пам’ятник бабаку. Тварина є символом міста, адже колонія бабаків жила на території ще до приходу козаків-поселенців. Після початку повномасшабного вторгнення попередня статуя тварини була пошкоджена російськими обстрілами. 

Про це повідомляє Суспільне. 

“Для міста Куп’янськ бабак — тваринка особлива. З давніх-давен, ще задовго до часів козачої доби, велика родина бабаків оселилася в Куп’янських степах. Недарма його зображення можна зустріти як на старовинному, так і сучасному гербі Куп’янська”, – пише начальник Куп’янської міської військової адміністрації Андрій Беседін у Facebook. 

На вшанування бабака у 2014 році встановили скульптуру. Вона простояла до початку повномасштабного вторгнення. Під час чергового обстрілу снаряд розірвався поруч із нею і завдав їй значних пошкоджень.

“З ініціативою допомогти громаді й відновити скульптури звернувся полковник Збройних сил України Валерій Курко та офіцери групи цивільно-військового співробітництва 103-тя окрема бригада територіальної оборони Збройних Сил України”, – йдеться у дописі. 

Нову скульптуру бабака для Куп’янська виготовили майстри зі Сколівської ОТГ на Львівщин. Матеріалом стала справжня карпатська смерека. На її виготовлення пішло кілька місяців.
