Дві косовські опозиційні партії набрали найбільше голосів на недільних позачергових виборах нового парламенту, проведених на фоні закликів до лідерів відновити діалог з Сербією щодо нормалізації відносин.

З 76% голосів, підрахованих Центральною виборчою комісією, партія лівого руху За самовизначення, або LVV, отримала 26% голосів. Політична сила трохи випередила правоцентристську Демократичну лігу Косово, або ЛДК, з 25%.

Кадрі Веселі з колишньої правлячої консервативної Демократичної партії Косово визнав поразку. Його партія отримала 21% голосів, за нею йде її правлячий союзник, Альянс за майбутнє Косово прем'єр-міністра Рамуша Харадіная з 12%.

Дострокове голосування відбулося після того, як Харадінай подав у відставку в липні після прохання Гаазького суду допитати його щодо злочинів проти етнічних сербів під час і після війни 1998-1999 років. Конфлікт був закінчений військової інтервенцією НАТО проти тодішнього сербського керівника Слободана Мілошевича, кривавим придушенням повстання албанських борців за незалежність.

Виборці обирали 120 законодавців в балканській країні, яка стала незалежною від Сербії в 2008 році, визнаною більш ніж 100 країнами, але не Белградом.

Попередня явка склала близько 44%, що трохи вище, ніж на виборах 2017 року. Право голосу отримали близько 1,9 мільйона осіб.
