Хан наголосив, що причиною до таких дій британського уряду має бути та ганебна й жорстока політика, якої дотримується 45-й президент Сполучених Штатів Америки. Мер Лондона зауважив, що він любить і поважає американський народ, але дії Трампа не відповідають європейським цінностям. Мова йде про скандальний міграційний указ Трампа, за яким тимчасово заборонялось виїжджати на територію США представникам семи мусульманських країн. Дію цього президентського розпорядження було призупинено, однак нещодавно Дональд Трамп анонсував підписання нового схожого документу вже наступного тижня. За його словами, в новому міграційному указі буде враховано вимоги, які було озвучено апеляційним судом Сан-Франциско.
Варто відмітити, що в Великобританії з приводу цього документу пройшли численні мітинги. Також на сайті британського уряду було опубліковано відповідну петицію про скасування запрошення для президента США. Її підтримало понад 1 мільйон британців. На початку тижня, 20 лютого, в парламенті Великої Британії відбудуться дебати з цього приводу. Але як зазначали британські ЗМІ, посилаючись на джерела з офіційних кіл, ці обговорення не відмінять візит Трампа.
