Одіозний депутат Ігор Кононенко може очолити фракцію Блоку Петра Порошенка у Верховній Раді після того, як нинішній лідер фракції Юрій Луценко буде призначений генпрокурором і складе мандат.

Наразі Кононенко є першим заступником голови фракції, тому у разі відсутності голови автоматично виконуватиме його обов'язки.

Як відомо, на час розслідування НАБУ щодо Кононенка він відмовився від посади першого заступника голови фракції, однак після того, як НАБУ не знайшла у депутата жодних порушень, йому у середу повернули цю посаду.

Кононенко вважається наближеним до президента Петра Порошенка. Він є фігурантом багатьох журналістських розслідувань, у яких доводиться його причетність до гучних корупційних схем.
