За даними розвідки, зібраними Тайбеєм, вищі китайські лідери провели зустріч на початку цього місяця, щоб "скоординувати" зусилля уряду, спрямовані на те, щоб вплинути на вибори в Тайвані в наступному році.

 Згідно з внутрішньою тайванською службовою запискою, зустріч була зосереджена на "забезпеченні ефективності та координації різних робіт щодо виборів на Тайвані". Відповідні відомства отримали завдання розробити інформаційно-пропагандистські програми, які включають обмін досвідом з тайванськими політиками і надання знижок на авіаквитки для тайванців, які проживають у Китаї, щоб вони могли прилетіти додому для участі в голосуванні.

«Китай продовжуватиме розігрувати наратив про вибір між миром і війною, який стверджує, що якщо Демократична прогресивна партія (ДПП) залишиться при владі, війна з Китаєм є ймовірною» - йдеться в доповіді. 

 Наразі кандидат у президенти від ДПП, віце-президент Вільям Лай, лідирує в опитуваннях.
