Кандидат у президенти Франції Ерік Земмур заявив, що санкції проти Росії необхідно зняти. Він упевнений, що Франція має зміцнити "дружні зв'язки" з РФ.

Використовуючи типово кремлівські наративи, він стверджує, що щойно відбувається якесь зближення Росії та Європи, США намагаються їх розділити.

"Росія веде свою політику, яка, природно, спрямована на поширення її впливу. Я думаю, що Франція могла б показати дружні сигнали щодо Росії, наприклад, скасувавши санкції. Якби я був президентом, я сказав би, що більше не буде санкцій проти Росії", — заявив кандидат у президенти.

Земмур відомий як активний прихильник російського президента Володимира Путіна. На його думку, глава Кремля "захищає традиційне суспільство". Україну Земмур у 2015 році називав "мертвою".
