Кандидат у президенти США від Демократичної партії Хілларі Клінтон закликала створити механізм набуття громадянства нелегальними мігрантами.

Таким чином вона приваблює на свій бік виборців-латиноамериканців та відмежовується від суперників з республіканського табору, пише УНІАН

"Ми не можемо більше чекати курсу на повне та рівноправне громадянство. І це те, що відрізняє мене від будь-кого з республіканців", - заявила Клінтон на зустрічі зі студентами у Неваді.

Голоси латиноамериканців можуть стати вирішальними на виборах 2016 року, особливо у "невизначених" штатах на зразок Невади чи Колорадо, пише агентство.

Республіканська партія розраховує отримати більше голосів латиноамериканців, ніж у 2012 році, коли багатьом іспаномовним виборцям позиція республіканців щодо мігрантів видалася занадто жорсткою. Так, один з імовірних кандидатів від республіканської партії Джеб Буш пропонує мігрантам легальний статус, який, щоправда, не забезпечує повного громадянства. Він не відкидає і можливості повного громадянства для мігрантів.

Клінтон назвала це пропозицією "другосортного статусу".

"Коли вони говорять про легальний статус, це евфемізм для другосортного статусу, і ми ніколи не маємо забувати, про кого йдеться", - сказала вона.
