Раніше влада США неодноразово зверталися із запитами до корпорації для надання доступу до приватних даних.

Останній подібний запит був влітку 2015: Мін'юст США зажадав у Apple надати повідомлення підозрюваних у поширенні наркотиків і зброї. Корпорація відмовилася, пославшись на шифровку інформації в iMessage.

Співрозмовники видання вважають, що подібна скритність корпорацій пов'язана з вчинком Едварда Сноудена. Тепер все більше компаній намагається убезпечити інформацію своїх клієнтів.
