Уряд Гонконгу відклав вересневі вибори до парламенту на наступний рік
 

За словами глави адміністрації Гонконгу Керрі Лам, це пов'язано зі зростанням числа випадків коронавірусу в місті, передає BBC.

За її словами, рішення про перенесення виборів "найважче за останні сім місяців".

Лам пояснила, що пандемія в Гонконзі "знаходиться в поганому становищі з січня", і по мірі продовження поширення вірусу в суспільстві ризик великомасштабного спалаху зростає.

Вона додала, що при наявності 4,4 млн зареєстрованих виборців в Гонконзі проведення виборів може спровокувати величезний спалах захворюваності, а заходи соціального дистанціювання не дозволять кандидатам агітувати.

Лам також сказала, що проведення виборів у вересні становить особливий ризик для літніх виборців і що в Гонконзі зареєстровано багато виборців в материковому Китаї і за кордоном, які не зможуть взяти участь у виборах, поки діють заходи прикордонного карантину.

Нагадаємо, за місяць захворюваність у місті зросла в 10 разів, Гонконг заявив про можливий колапс системи охорони здоров'я.

Також повідомлялося, що на початку липня Гонконг закрив всі школи і анонсував посилення карантину.
