Губернатор Флориди Рон Десантіс, який вважається головним конкурентом-республіканцем експрезидента Дональда Трампа на виборах у США, заявив, що у разі своє перемоги не хотів би бачити американські війська втягненими у російсько-українську війну. 

Про це Десантіс сказав у першому після висунення своєї кандидатури на виборах інтерв’ю Fox News

Десантіс відповідав на запитання стосовно своїх дій щодо російсько-української війни першого дня на посаді. Він почав із того, що розкритикував актуальний стан американської армії, заявивши, що військо стало "політизованим", "там говорять про гендерну ідеологію" і "про глобальне потепління".

"Ми маємо повернути наше військо до фокусування на обов’язку, ключових цінностях і ключовій місії", – сказав Десантіс.

У другій частині відповіді він сказав, що хотів би побачити "врегулювання" війни в Україні. При цьому він наголосив, що американська армія не повинна бути втягненою у війну. 

"Я б хотів побачити врегулювання цього (війни. – Ред.). Я б не хотів бачити ширшої війни. Я думаю, абсолютно невідомо, як це (війна. – Ред.) буде виглядати у січні 2025 року. Але я б не хотів бачити Сполучені Штати з їхніми військами втягненими у війну у Росії чи в Україні", – сказав губернатор Флориди.
