У своїй редакційній колонці у випуску наступного місяці Еммануель Альт пише, що ця модель-‎трансгендер нічим не поступається у своїй красі іншим жінкам у сфері моди.‎

«Ця фатальна жінка Валентина народилася хлопчиком, - пише вона. - Але вона привернула нас не своєю неабиякою красою, а тим, що вона є символом зміни наших уявлень про типи чоловічої і жіночої краси».

Хоч французький журнал уперше розміщує фото трансгендера на обкладинці, це не такий перший випадок у журналах моди загалом.

У жовтні минулого року Валентина Сампайо з'явилася на обкладинці бразильського видання Elle, а на обкладинці британського видання того ж журналу з'явилася модель Харі Неф.

За словами Еммануель Альт, її журнал тепер може пишатися тим, що трансгендери стали частиною його іміджу.

«Трансгендери, цей найвищий символ відмови від конформізму, - це сьогодні культові фігури, ікони стилю, і журнал Vogue усіляко підтримує їх і радіє разом із ними».

«Але лише тоді, коли фото трансгендера з'явитися на обкладинці без необхідності супроводжувати його редакційним коментарем, ми будемо знати, що нарешті перемогли», - підсумовує вона.
