Кампания «Initiative for Civil Courage Online» была запущена в понедельник в Берлине, на нее выделено более миллиона евро. Средства пойдут на поддержку неправительственных организаций, ведущих борьбу с расистскими и ксенофобскими постами и комментариями в социальной сети, а также на финансирование исследований, изучающих причины экстремизма и ксенофобии, которые должны помочь понять, как следует бороться с проблемой.
Правила Facebook запрещают травлю, домогательства и угрозы, но критики социальной сети говорят, что ее представители недостаточно эффективно следят за их выполнением. Немецкие политики и знаменитости отмечали, что обеспокоены ростом количества ксенофобских и расистских комментариев в соцсети в свете того, что в страну пребывает все больше беженцев.
