Сенатор США Элизабет Уоррен планирует выйти из борьбы за номинацию в президенты США от Демократической партии.

Об этом пишет The New York Times.

Отмечается, что, хотя поддержка Уоррен была подорвана в результате “супервторника”, в последние недели гонки она фактически вытеснила миллиардера, бывшего мэра Нью-Йорка Майкла Блумберга.

В октябре прошлого года, согласно большинству национальных опросов, Уоррен была национальным лидером в области демократии, но к декабрю ее рейтинг упал.

Она инвестировала значительные средства в некоторые штаты, но это не окупилось: во время предварительного голосования Уоррен скатилась с третьего места в Айове на четвертое в Нью-Гемпшире и Неваде, и на пятое в Южной Каролине.

Уточняется, что демократическая гонка, начавшаяся с рекордного числа кандидатов-женщин, теперь превратилась в соревнование мужчин в возрасте 77 лет и старше: бывшего вице-президента Джозефа Байдена-младшего и Берни Сандерса.
