Відео було розміщене у суботу директором з медіа Білого дому Деном Скавіно. В уривку виступу Байдена звучать вирвані з контексту слова "Ми можемо лише переобрати Дональда Трампа".

Повне речення Байдена звучало як: "Вибачте. Ми можемо переобрати Дональда Трампа лише у тому випадку, якщо ми все приєднаємося до цього стрілецького загону. Це має бути позитивна кампанія, так що приєднуйтесь до нас".

Ден Скавіно у відповідь на дії Твіттера заявив, що відео не було відредаговано. 5 березня у Твіттер почали діяти нові правила, згідно з якими твіти з маніпулятивним змістом, фейками чи редагуванням, як наприклад відео, відредаговані вручну, будуть промарковані або видалені.

При цьому нові маркери Твіттера поки відображаються не для всіх користувачів. Аналогічний відеофрагмент був розміщений на сторінці Скавіно у Facebook.

Представники передвиборної кампанії Байдена звинуватила Facebook Inc. у відсутності маркування відео, як це зробив Твіттер.
