На Алясці в Національному парку «Катмай» обрали найтовстішого ведмедя. Переможцем став ведмідь під номером 747, який важить приблизно 635 кг. Про це парк повідомив в Twitter.

Конкурс Fat Bear Week проводиться щорічно з 2014 року. Парк пропонує користувачам обрати ведмедя, який, на їх думку, найліпше підготувався до зимової сплячки, тобто набрав найбільшу вагу. Голосування відбувається онлайн на окремому сайті та триває тиждень. 

Цього року голосування відбувалося зі складнощами. Під час півфіналу між ведмедями під номерами 747 та 435, перший впевнено лідирував, але наприкінці дня другий ведмідь отримав відразу декілька тисяч голосів та посів перше місце. Раптова зміна лідера здивувала організаторів. Після перевірки з’ясувалося, що близько 90% голосів за 435 надійшло від ботів.

Після перерахунку результатів 747-й пройшов до фіналу та переміг у конкурсі.
