Відзначається, що кількість голосів може збільшитися в найближчі дні, оскільки підрахунок бюлетенів ще триває по всій країні.

Станом на сьогодні Байден набрав понад 80 021 000 голосів.

Чинний президент США Дональд Трамп набрав більш ніж 73 800 000 голосів. Відтак, у Трампа друге місце за кількістю голосів виборців в історії країни.

Байден отримав 306 голосів виборників, а Трамп – 232. Для того, щоб стати президентом США, необхідно набрати 270 голосів виборників.

Як зазначає CNN, новий рекорд, встановлений Байденом, зміцнює його вирішальну перемогу над Трампом, який досі не визнав поразку, хоча його адміністрація почала формальний процес передачі влади.

Наразі низка штатів розпочали сертифікацію результатів президентських виборів. Напередодні це зробили в штатах Пенсильванія і Невада, де було оголошено про перемогу Байдена.
