Обраний президент США Джо Байден пообіцяв, що держава виплатить громадянам по $2 тис. на підтримку в умовах пандемії COVID-19, якщо у штаті Джорджія сенаторами оберуть демократів Джона Оссофа і Рафаеля Уорнока, що дозволить Демократичній партії отримати більшість у Сенаті
 

Про це Байден заявив під час виступу в штаті Джорджія, передає NBC.

"Якщо ви відправите Джона і Рафеля у Вашингтон, чеки на $2 тис. будуть видані. Це означатиме відновлення надії, порядності та честі для стількох людей, які борються з коронавірусом прямо зараз", - сказав Байден.

На думку Байдена, обрання Оссоффа і Уорнока "зламає глухий кут, в який потрапили Вашингтон і вся країна".

"Джорджіє, вся нація дивиться на тебе. Один штат може задати курс не лише на наступні чотири роки, але і на наступне покоління", - сказав Байден.

Байден також звинуватив чинного президента країни Дональда Трампа у нехтуванні виконанням обов'язків глави держави.

Наразі більшість у Сенаті США має Республіканська партія. Якщо у Джорджії сенаторами оберуть демократів, більшість у Сенаті отримає Демпартія.

Чинними сенаторами від Джорджії є республіканці Келлі Леффлер і Девід Пердью. Трамп закликав голосувати Леффлер та Пердью, назвавши це "останнім шансом врятувати Америку, яку ми любимо".

Келлі Леффлер під час виступу на мітингу напередодні голосування заявила, що в разі перемоги долучиться до групи конгресменів, які намагаються оскаржити програш Дональда Трампа на президентських виборах.
