На слуханнях, які тривали понад дві з половиною години, судді розглядали протистояння між свободою слова та національною безпекою. Більшість суддів висловили занепокоєння щодо загроз, які TikTok може становити через зв’язки з Китаєм.

Головний суддя Джон Робертс окреслив ключову проблему: TikTok належить ByteDance, яка, за китайським законодавством, зобов’язана співпрацювати з розвідувальними службами уряду КНР.

Якщо закон залишиться чинним, TikTok повинен буде припинити свою діяльність у США з 19 січня.
