Американська астронавтка Кейт Рубінс в четвер проголосувала достроково на виборах президента США. Вона заповнила бюлетень на борту Міжнародної космічної станції.

Про це повідомили в НАСА.

Голос Рубінс зарахують незважаючи на те, що вона знаходиться на висоті 408 км над Землею.

“Сьогодні я проголосувала, перебуваючи на борту Міжнародної космічної станції”, – поділилася Рубінс.

Вона прибула на МКС минулого тижня. Астронавтка повернеться на Землю не раніше, ніж через півроку.

На фото Рубінс перед білою кабінкою з паперовою табличкою з написом: “Кабіна для голосування в МКС”.

Її бюлетень захищено спеціальним кодуванням. Електронну версію відправили по електронній пошті на МКС з Космічного центру імені Джонсона в Х’юстоні, штат Техас. Астронавт його заповнила, і бюлетень відправили назад електронною поштою в Х’юстон.

Це не перше голосування Рубінс в космосі. У 2016 році вона також взяла участь у виборах, перебуваючи на борту МКС. У 1997 році Конгрес прийняв закон, що дозволяє астронавтам голосувати з космосу.
