Американська компанія Amazon запустила власний відеосервіс Video Direct, що є аналогом YouTube.

Amazon вже пропонує фільми та телевізійні програми через Інтернет. У цьому сегменті вона конкурує із Netflix Inc.

Новий продукт дозволить Amazon залучати споживачів шляхом монетизації їхнього контенту. 

Виробники відео зможуть заробити на ньому кількома способами. По-перше, продати або здати в оренду свої програми на Amazon, або зробити відео доступними для всіх клієнтів Amazon (а не тільки прем'єр-абонентів) в рекламній підтримці формату.

Інший варіант - надання підписки на відео на Amazon Prime.Amazon також платитиме $ 1 мільйон на місяць творцям 100 найпопулярніших програм, переглянутих Prime членів кожен місяць.
