25% республіканців серед губернаторів і членів Конгресу відмовляються підтримувати Трампа: з 331 людини, які перебували в Республіканській партії, 87 не підтримують його кандидатуру.
Сучасна політична історія США не знає жодного випадку, коли кандидату на посаду президента відмовляли в підтримці виборні посадові особи його ж власної партії в такому масовому порядку.
Таким чином, Трампу доведеться відмовитися від допомоги однопартійців серед губернаторів і в Конгресі, які зазвичай перед виборами закликають свій електорат голосувати за кандидата від партії.
