Президент Віктор Янукович пообіцяв, що українці самі виберуть куди їм вступати: в Європейський чи Митний союз.

Про це він заявив в інтерв'ю провідним українським телеканалам, яке цитує ТСН.

"Будь-які рішення, які ми приймаємо, повинні бути далекоглядними. Від простих до серйозних, стратегічних. Який буде вибір народу – може показати референдум. Коли буде референдум – ми з вами не знаємо. Тоді в будь-якому разі нам не обійтися без референдуму", - заявив президент.

При цьому за його словами, підписаний раніше меморандум з Митним союзом надав Україні фактично статус спостерігача.

"Сьогодні представник України в комісії Митного союзу і він слідкує, щоб інтереси України були там представлені. Тому ми домовилися, що формат "3+1" уже певним чином почав працювати", - сказав він
