Ротвейлер по имени Зевс получил приглашение голосовать на выборах в Европейский парламент, которые состоятся 22 мая 2014 года. Псу прислали на почту карточку с указанием его клички и фамилии хозяина, регистрационным номером избирателя, датой и временем выборов. А все потому, что хозяин собаки, житель деревни Нортон на северо-востоке Великобритании, решил пошутить во время недавней переписи населения.

8-летний Зевс принадлежит 45-летнему Расселу Хойлу. Мужчина рассказал журналистам онлайн-версии издания The Evening Gazette, что в деревню приходили переписчики и, очевидно, внесли животное в список тех, кого ждут на избирательном участке.

«Я помню, как сказал, что в доме из взрослых живем только мы с женой, а наш сын еще слишком молод, чтобы голосовать. А потом я добавил, что у нас еще есть Зевс, которому 63 года, если считать возраст по-собачьи», — вспоминает Рассел. Когда прислали карточку избирателя, на которой значилось имя «Зевс Хойл», хозяин собаки глазам не поверил.

Несмотря на ошибку социологов, Рассел Хойл и его жена обещают взять пса с собой на выборы кандидатов в Европарламент. А пока Хойлы строят предположения о политических предпочтениях Зевса и надеются, что он бы не стал голосовать за партию тори.
