Ряд российских СМИ 11 ноября опубликовали на своих страницах вымышленную новость о разгоне гей-парада во Львове украинским атлетом Василием Вирастюком. Изначально информация об этом была размещена на портале UaReview, специализирующимся на написании фейковых новостей, собщает Лента.ру.

Сначала сообщение о том, что спортсмен разогнал участников проходившего на Украине парада сексуальных меньшинств, появилось на сайте телеканала Russia Today. Как говорилось в заметке, митинговавшие на львовском проспекте Свободы геи испугались «торопившегося к стоматологу» чемпиона в силовом многоборье Василия Вирастюка, побросали плакаты с радужной символикой и разбежались. Материал был озаглавлен словами «Самый сильный человек планеты случайно разогнал митинг геев во Львове». Позже статья была удалена с сайта, а ее место заняла другая заметка.

Вслед за Russia Today информацию о разгоне гей-парада со ссылкой на UaReview опубликовало также агентство гражданской журналистики «Ридус». На момент написания этой заметки статья «Ридуса» все еще была доступна на сайте издания.

Заметка, переведенная с украинского языка и перепечатанная российскими СМИ, тем не менее, не имеет отношения к действительности. Как сказано на официальном сайте интернет-издания UaReview, портал специализируется на «сатиричных фейковых новостях». По словам администрации ресурса, все упомянутые на сайте события и персонажи являются вымышленными, а «любое их совпадение с реальными событиями и людьми — случайно».

СМИ принимают выдуманные порталом UaReview новости за настоящие уже не впервые. Так, в ноябре 2012 года информационное агентство «Интерфакс» распространило информацию об украинском священнике, избившем кадилом четырех молодых людей, пытавшихся повторить в храме выступление панк-группы Pussy Riot. Материал об этом, изначально размещенный на сайте UaReview, также был вымышленным.
