Управление по делам иммиграции и гражданства Венгрии отклонило ходатайство бывшего народного депутата Александра Шепелева и его жены Галины о предоставлении им статуса беженца.

Об этом сообщило Управление по делам иммиграции и гражданства Венгрии.

«Поскольку Александр Шепелев и его жена Галина Шепелева имеют канадское гражданство, согласно венгерскому законодательству им не может быть предоставлен статус беженца», - говорится в вердикте ведомства, передает Укринформ.

Как отметил венгерский адвокат Шепелевых Ференц Босэ, это решение будет обжаловано в суде, поскольку оно было принято без документального подтверждения того, что Шепелевы действительно являются гражданами Канады. Он также не исключил, что в связи с этим назначенное на 18 октября рассмотрение дела об экстрадиции Шепелевых в Украину будет отложено.

Напомним, бывший народный депутат Александр Шепелев был объявлен в международный розыск. МВД Украины возбудило в отношении него уголовное дело по ряду обвинений, среди которых хищение средств банка "Родовід" в размере 340 млн грн и организация заказных убийств.

4 июля экс-депутат был задержан в Будапеште венгерской полицией и представителями немецкого Интерпола, а 5 июля помещен под экстрадиционный арест.

Украина обратилась к Венгрии с ходатайством об экстрадиции Шепелева. Решение о экстрадиции Александра Шепелева министерство по делам администрации и юстиции Венгрии примет по рассмотрении этого дела в cудебных инстанциях.
