Пошукові системи Google і Bing підписали з владою Великобританії угоду, згідно з якою компанії стануть знижувати в пошуковій видачі сайти з піратським контентом.
 

Угода почне діяти з 1 червня 2017 року, повідомляє Media Sapiens. Ініціатива працюватиме паралельно з вже існуючими антипіратськими заходами. Окрім того, вона буде поширюватися на ресурси з образливою інформацією. Наразі не уточнюється за якими саме ознаками сайти будуть вважатися такими, що містять образливий контент.  

Це перший в світі кодекс, підписаний між технологічними компаніями та власниками авторських прав.

Переговори між правовласниками і інтернет-компаніями вів британський Офіс з інтелектуальної власності за сприяння Департаменту культури, медіа та спорту разом з телекомунікаційним регулятором Ofcom.

За 2016 рік компанія Google видалила 900 мільйонів посилань на піратський контент. Це в 2 рази більше, ніж у 2015 році. Загальна кількість звернень правовласників на видалення будь-якого матеріалу перевищила позначку в 1 млрд.
