За п’ять годин голосування на виборах президента Узбекистану, які проводяться у зв’язку зі смертю незмінного лідера країни Іслама Карімова, вже проголосувало понад 33% виборців, що дало підставу Центрвиборчкому констатувати про те, що вибори відбулися.

День виборів президента в Узбекистані триватиме до 20:00.

Серед кандидатів на пост президента чотири політика, однак спостерігачі сходяться на думці, що найбільше шансів на перемогу має чинний в.о президента Шавкат Мірзіяєв. 59-річний Мірзіяєв з 2003 року був в Узбекистані прем’єр-міністром, очоливши країну 8 вересня через смерть Карімова. Мірзійоєв став першим узбецьким керівником, з яким провів переговори російський президент Володимир Путін через три дні після похорону Карімова

Країну майже 27 років очолював Іслам Карімов, який помер 2 вересня на 79-му році життя.
