США не визнає проведення виборів у Держдуму Російської Федерації на території анексованого Криму.

Про це сказала новопризначений посол США в Україні Марі Йованович в інтерв'ю Європейській правді.

"Крим є і назавжди залишиться частиною України, незважаючи на всі можливі юридичні дії з боку РФ. Ми ніколи не визнаємо Крим як частину Росії.
Ми також не визнаємо вибори в Держдуму, які проходять на території Криму", - уточнила вона.

Разом з тим, посол не відповіла на запитання про те, чи можливе невизнання також депутатів Держдуми, обраних за партійним списком в єдиному федеральному окрузі.

Раніше МЗС України висловив Росії протест щодо намірів провести вибори на тимчасово окупованому півострові.

МЗС також вимагає не проводити вибори на українській території і заявило про неможливість голосувати у російських дипустановах в Україні.

У свою чергу постійний представник України при ООН Володимир Єльченко заявив, що спостерігачам ООН на "виборах" в Криму загрожує кримінальна відповідальність.

Верховна Рада України закликала міжнародну спільноту не визнавати вибори в Держдуму Росії 18 вересня на території тимчасово окупованого РФ Криму і Севастополя.
