Скандальный депутат законодательного собрания Петербурга Виталий Милонов направил обращение на премьер-министра РФ Дмитрия Медведева с просьбой вернуть одно из старых названий Стамбула на все российские карты, учебные пособия и транспортные направления, пишет УНИАН.

 «Для многих жителей нашей страны Стамбул по-прежнему связывается исключительно с историей Византии. В дореволюционный период нашего государства этот город именовался у нас не иначе, как Константинополь. А в настоящем времени многие православные страны, например Греция, продолжают данную традицию», - заявил Милонов.

Он отметил, что название «Константинополь» должно быть возвращено в современное употребление. «Мы не отрицаем его современное название, но оставляем свое право на историческую справедливость, хоть и заключенную в форму символа», - сказал он.
