Музыкант, композитор и продюсер Дэвид Боуи скончался в воскресенье от рака на 70-м году жизни. В Facebook Боуи сообщается, что музыкант умер в кругу близких после 18 месяцев борьбы с болезнью.

"Дэвид Боуи ушел из жизни сегодня в окружении своих родственников после 18-месячной борьбы с раком. Несмотря на то, что многие захотят поделиться этой потерей, мы просим вас уважать частную жизнь семьи, которая в настоящий момент переживает горе", – говорится в сообщении.

За несколько дней до смерти он отметил 69-летие выпуском своего последнего альбома Blackstar ("Черная звезда").

За свою карьеру он выпустил 25 альбомов.

В 2000 году Дэвид Боуи был признан самым влиятельным музыкантом XX века.

Кроме того, музыкант активно снимался в кино. Самые известные фильмы с его участием – "Человек, который упал на землю", "Артур и минипуты", "Последнее искушение Христа", "Образцовый самец" и "Престиж". За роль в картине "Человек, который упал на Землю" он получил премию "Сатурн". Также в копилке Боуи две премии "Грэмми" и две BRIT Awards.
