Российский телеканал "Звезда" снял сюжет о новейшей российской ракете, которая якобы способна потопить военный корабль в результате прямого попадания. "Конечно, авианосец трудно будет потопить. Но если попасть в уязвимую точку, то он может нанести существенный урон", – приводятся в сюжете слова заместителя гендиректора военно-промышленной корпорации "Научно-производственное объединение машиностроения" Анатолия Свинцова. Затем российские журналисты показывают "уникальные кадры" испытаний, на которых ракета попадает в военный корабль, нанося тому заметные повреждения. Однако, как выяснили пользователи сети, на самом деле канал "Звезда" использовал кадры испытания ракет норвежских ВМС. В YouTube это видео появилось еще в 2013 году.

Как писала газета Daily Mail, на кадрах запечатлен момент испытания норвежской ракеты Naval Strike Missile. Издание отмечало, что ракета, которая имеет радиус действия 150 км, поразила фрегат с высокой точностью. Эта ракета разработана скандинавской фирмой Kongsberg и используется норвежским флотом.
Российские СМИ регулярно попадаются на распространении фейковой информации. В частности, телеканал "Россия 1" в программе "Специальный корреспондент" в качестве иллюстрации сексуальной распущенности стран Запада привел кадры из спальни американского мальчика, которому родители якобы наклеили на стену картинки с голыми мужчинами. При этом на оригинальном видео родители порадовали ребенка изображением автомобиля.
