В среду, 1 апреля, издание EUobserver опубликовало материал, в котором утверждалось, что Франция передаст корабли «Мистраль» Евросоюзу вместо России. Некоторые российские СМИ приняли эти сообщения за правду. Передачу кораблей, как пишет «Интерфакс», опровергли в Еврокомиссии,пишет Дождь
В оригинальном материале EUobserver указывалось, что «Мистрали» переместят в Люксембург. Стоит отметить, что это государство, расположенное на границе между Бельгией, Францией и Германией, не имеет выхода к морю.
Кроме того, в сообщении EUobserver говорилось, что корабли «Владивосток» и «Севастополь» переименуют в «Юнкер» и «Могерини» — в честь глав Еврокомиссии и европейской дипломатии соответственно.
В сюжет сервиса «Яндекс.Новости» попали 39 сообщений различных российских СМИ, в том числе ведущих информационных агентств: ТАСС, РИА «Новости» и Интерфакс. Первая новость появилась, судя по данным того же ресурса, у радио «Говорит Москва» в 10:41.
