Рік тому на території Криму і міста Севастополя відбувсятак званий "референдум про статус півострова", після проведення якого Росія включила Крим до свого складу.

Україна, Європейський Союз, США не визнали це голосування і досі заявляють, що Росія анексувала Крим. У зв'язку з цим країни Заходу застосували санкції щодо Росії.

Кримський "референдум" став своєрідною відправною точкою, оскільки через деякий час аналогічні заходи відбулисяна Донбасі - у Луганській і Донецькій областях. Як і у випадку з Кримом, ні Київ, ні світова спільнота не визнали легітимність цих "референдумів".
